Improving Metrics collaborates with 1m2 by nature and collects 10kg of trash from the beach

Improving Metrics workers join the Libera Project and collect 793 fragments of waste on the beach of Las Lapas in A Coruña.

A group of workers and family members of Improving Metrics, the Coruña company specialized in advanced data analytics and Artificial Intelligence, participated this Saturday collecting data on abandoned waste on the beach, within the national campaign of collection and mapping of garbage organized by Ecoembes and SEO / Birdlife, within Project Libera, 1m² for Nature.

In total they collected 10 kg of garbage from the beach of Las Lapas, in the surroundings of the Tower of Hercules, of which 2.5 kg were plastic, 1 kg was glass, 2.5 kg remains and 4 kg waste for the clean point. They also accounted for 793 fragments of trash, of which 239 units were cigarette butts, 217 microplastics, 181 pieces of glass, 39 large plastics, cans, in addition to a wheel, a shoe and textile scraps, pieces of polyspan, construction material and 31 fragments of sweets bags.

To count the garbage, the workers used the Marnoba Platform app, which aims to collect, store and display information about the marine litter of our coasts, beaches, floats and bottoms in a simple way, by using an application for devices phones where the data of the materials found are entered. Annually, the MARNOBA Platform sends a report of results for the National Marine Waste Monitoring Program on beaches of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO).
