Measuring an event by its smiles


Improving Metrics and Google organized Improving Minds, a series of talks to present the new Google Marketing Platform, to point at the importance of measuring in a digital world, both online and offline.


Improving Metrics designed an integrated measurement system (online / offline) supported by an artificial vision algorithm. Two comedians tried to get the smile of the public at certain times so we measured the segmentation of users (gender/ age) and feelings (joy, seriousness, ...) live during the evening.


It was possible to analyze the effectiveness of an online acquisition campaign, with an "offline" KPI live, such as the Smile Rate generated during the event, to determine the cost of each smile.
